About us

Our purpose is to advance scientific, technical, and artistic education in relation to glass manufacturing. We do this by funding initiatives such as training opportunities, scientific research projects, equipment purchases, and public exhibitions.

Our history

1965
The Glass Manufacturers’ Educational Trust was established using donations and subscriptions from members of the Glass Manufacturers’ Federation of London (now known as British Glass).
1967
One of the first actions of the Glass Manufacturers’ Educational Trust was to develop a glass gallery at Science Museum of London to trace the discovery, history, evolution and achievements of glass, worldwide.
1988
The trust moved its premises from London to Chapeltown, Sheffield and shares its office space with British Glass and the Society of Glass Technology.
Today
The Glass Manufacturers’ Educational Trust continues to support the advancement of scientific, technical, and artistic education throughout the UK.
